U.S. Supreme Court Legalizes Same-sex Marriage

On June 26, 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in a 5-4 decision that the U.S. Constitution guarantees same-sex couples the right to marry.  The case, Obergefell v. Hodges, challenged same-sex marriage bans in Ohio, Tennessee, Michigan and Kentucky. Although the ruling specifically involved those four states, it affects same-sex marriage laws in every state.
